Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Financial Accountant to support a fast-growing multi-site dental network and digital manufacturing business approaching $10M in revenue. This is a hands-on individual contributor role.
The successful candidate will not manage a finance team but will personally handle accounting operations, financial reporting, process improvements, and finance system automation.
The ideal candidate has strong Australian accounting experience, advanced knowledge of Xero, and a passion for improving finance processes through technology and automation.
Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Accounting Operations: Prepare accurate monthly financial reports, including Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow statements, and management reports across multiple entities. Manage month-end closing activities, reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and maintenance of financial records.
Financial Consolidation & Intercompany Accounting: Support financial consolidation processes across multiple clinical entities and business units. Manage intercompany transactions, reconciliations, and ensure accurate reporting of group financial information.
Finance Systems & Process Improvement: Manage day-to-day finance systems, including Xero and Hubdoc, ensuring accurate transaction processing, efficient workflows, and continuous improvements to accounting processes and reporting automation.
Compliance & External Accounting Support: Prepare BAS workpapers, payroll-related reports, financial schedules, and year-end accounting files. Work closely with external accountants and advisors to support compliance requirements, audits, and statutory reporting obligations.
Financial Analysis & Business Support: Review financial data, operating expenses, provider payments, and business performance metrics. Provide insights on costs, margins, and financial trends to support operational decision-making.
Accounts & Transaction Management: Ensure accurate processing and review of invoices, bank reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable activities, and financial transactions while maintaining strong internal controls.
Qualifications
Qualification: CPA, CA, or internationally recognized equivalent is preferred.
Australian Experience: Demonstrated experience supporting Australian businesses with strong knowledge of Australian accounting practices, including BAS, PAYG, payroll tax, superannuation, and statutory compliance requirements.
Accounting Experience: 5–10 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years supporting Australian companies. Experience in multi-entity environments, healthcare, professional services, retail, or similar industries is highly desirable.
Technical Skills: Strong hands-on experience with Xero and Hubdoc. Experience with accounting systems, financial reporting tools, and workflow automation is preferred. Familiarity with dental practice management systems (Dental4Windows, Carestack) or ERP systems is an advantage.
Financial Reporting Skills: Proven experience in month-end closing, reconciliations, journal preparation, financial reporting, consolidation support, and maintaining accurate financial records.
Communication: Excellent written and spoken English skills. Comfortable collaborating with external accountants, management teams, and operational stakeholders.
Work Style: Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently in a hands-on accounting role with ownership of assigned finance processes
